Present: Brad Schaffner (Kansas), Cathy Zeljak (George

(Wayne State), Diana Brooking (Washington), Mischa Buczkowski (Oregon),
Jackie Byrd (Indiana), Marta Deyrup (Seton Hall), Inna Gudanets
(Stanford), Carl Horne (Indiana), Jared Ingersoll (Columbia), Soobum Kim
(Stanford), Sandra Levy (Chicago), Terri Miller (Michigan State), Karina
Milosovich (East View), Leena Siegelbaum (Harvard), Kay Sinnema (Duke),
Andy Spencer (Wisconsin), Lydia Wasylenko (Syracuse),
JSTOR: Carol McAdams from JSTOR spoke about that company's plans
to provide access to digitized Slavic serials. The Bibliographic &
Documentation Committee meeting of AAASS was identified as a good place
for the Slavic library profession to provide JSTOR with suggestions for
titles to be made accessible online. Brad Schaffner will contact Mike
Biggins, chair of the B&D Committee, about this idea.
Minutes: The minutes of the January 2002 joint meeting were
approved.
Update on Progress:
- Brad Schaffner reported on the Germans in Russia project at the
University of Kansas. The University of Kansas (KU) Libraries, in
cooperation with the American Historical Society of Germans From Russia
(AHSGR) received funding through the Department of Education's Title VI
grant Technological Innovation and Cooperation for Foreign Information
Access Program (TICFIA)for a project to digitize, preserve, and provide
fully searchable machine readable electronic access to the 68 volumes of
the hand-written Tiraspol Consistory Records.
- Andy Spencer reported on the Letopis' Zhurnal'nykh Statei project
at Indiana University is on schedule.
