Electronic Resources Committee Minutes
Jan. 14, 2001
Present: Cathy Zeljak (George Washington), Mischa Buczkowski (Oregon),
Jackie Byrd (Indiana), David Chroust (Texas A&M), Cathy Espley
(Mo-Floyd Reg. Library), Diana Greene (NYU), Inna Gudanets (Stanford),
Jared Ingersoll (Columbia), Sandra Levy (Chicago), Anthony Oddo
(Yale)
The minutes of the July 2000 meeting were approved.
Printouts of the SEES websites, including the new website of the
Preservation Committee, were distributed. There was a suggestion that
we have more websites for individual committees.
Terri Miller distributed a list of websites on Slavic, East European,
and Eurasian statistical websites that she had compiled.
There was a discussion on whether we should monitor web resources and
provide links on the SEES website. Among the comments were:
- This is too ambitious
- It's already being done
- Maybe we could link to new websites announced on slavlibs
It was decided that 2 new websites should be linked
- We should link Terri's page on "Internet Links" on the SEES
website
- Where should Janice Pilch's list for the Continuing Education
Committee go (list of graduate programs in Slavic/East
European/Eurasian studies for mentoring graduate students considering
librarianship as a career. It was discussed whether this was of
general interest or just for Continuing Education. Should it go on the
committee website or under "Internet Links"?
Jackie Byrd gave an update on the Slavic Librarians' Directory. All
updates have been made for US Libraries. Tony Oddo offered to help on
sending emails to the non-US Libraries. Committee members will have
input into the email letter before it goes out.
There will be a joint Electronic Resources/Preservation Committee
meeting at the San Francisco conference in June. We will hear a report
from Andy Spencer on Indiana's Letopis' zhurnal'nykh statei
project.
