Slavic Cataloging FAQ

Purpose and Scope

The purpose and spirit of the FAQ is to collect in one place as much useful knowledge and interesting, even entertaining, information, both technical and historical, on the subject of Slavic cataloging in all of the Slavic, Baltic, Balkan, Central Asian and other languages that are often the responsibility of the Slavic cataloger. The FAQ will hopefully serve as a source of information both for the beginning and the experienced cataloger. We would like to see it grow. If one question has several answers, the various answers will be included. Everyone is invited to submit a question or question and answer. Currently, Tatiana Barr, chair of the Automated Bibliographic Control Committee, will be the editor of the FAQ (in consultation with others). If you would like to submit a question, contact Tatiana Barr at: tatiana@mail.uflib.ufl.edu. She has posted a list of possible questions on her homepage: Tatiana Barr's Homepage
We are inaugerating the FAQ with one of the most frequently asked questions among Slavic catalogers:

Is there a manual for Slavic cataloging?
Yes, one such manual is the Slavic Cataloging Manual at the web site for Princeton University Library's Cataloging Documentation.
