A complete application includes: 1. Financial Certificate (International Applicants) 2. Transcripts 3. Required Entrance Exams (refer to Application Procedures for codes) 4. English Language Requirement - The TOEFL is required for graduates of foreign universities (except those in the United Kingdom, the English-speaking provinces of Canada, or Australia). (Refer to Application Procedures for specific codes) 5. Letter of Intent 6. Applicant Evaluation Forms 7. The Interview - applicants are strongly encouraged to meet in person or by telephone with lead professors in their intended area of concentration. Allow at least four to six weeks for all of the application materials to reach the Doctoral Committee Office and arrange for an interview with the primary field faculty well in advance of the January 15th deadline for receipt of all application materials. It is strongly recommended that approximately three to four weeks before the January 15th deadline, the applicant check with the Committee on Doctoral Studies Office to make sure that all materials have been received (202-994-6298 or sbphd@gwu.edu).
