Know You're a South Asian at GWU if . . ."
a)You know what
BB, RC, Toophan, and Chamak stand for.
b)You know that the word "obviously" has a specific tone and
length.
c)You understand, sympathize, or actually participate in 5 a.m. dance
rehersals.
d)Remeber how the SuperBowl Budweiser ad had "wasssuppp",
we have "watchuuu meaaan"
e)You are on, or have been on, SAS, ISA, MSA, Satyam, PSA.
f)You are in/or known someone in the 7 year med program.
g)If your in the 7 year med program, chances are you've been chillin.
e)You know exactly where to find all the south asians at jstreet, even
if your not sitting with them.
f)You know (some would say unfortunetely, haha/jk) what IND stands for,
or at least who's in it and possibly even their chant!
g)You realize that even if half the people you know are dancing 24/7
they're also ridiculously smart and have their life more on track than
most other people at this school.
h)You have a bright red shirt with gold letters on it.
i)You know why half of the South Asian guys at are school are growing
their beards out right now.
j) You have been to or heard of punjabonline, and ofcourse, you disagree
with everything they say.
k) You have had to sit through an explanation of world affairs from
one of your superbly passionate Elliot School friends.
l)You recognize or even say hi to south asians you've never actually
met, because we're all way to interconnected.....and we def. know eachother,
so what's the point in pretending?
m)You are or have numerous friends that are.......from NJ!!!
n)You get numerous ISA/SAS/PSA/Satyam/MSA emails a day.
o)Speaking of emails, you have learned that some people don't know the
difference between the reply and reply all button (in ref. to the numerous
"take me off the listserv" emails).
p)You know about dandiya dhamaka, south beach, etc. even if your not
performing in them.
q)You operate on very minimal sleep, and you or someone you know has
a terrible habit of sleeping through the day, and staying up all night.
r)You have or know someone who has, a brother or sister at GW who you
never see.
s)You def. know a dj.
t)You are all to familiar with Mehran and Aroma.
u)Speaking off...you miss traditional home food with a passion, and
you might possibily have some of it frozen in you refridgerator.
v)During your time at GW, you have def. worn traditional south asian
clothing (sari, etc.) at leastttt once.
w)You don't deny the fact that you watch Indian movies, in fact you've
probably been to Loehmans or at least know of it.
x)The only time you've been to Lisner, Hippodrome, or Marvin Center
ballroom, is for a South Asian related event.
y)It is very possible to find a mutual friend/or family with a south
asian person you've just met at GW.
z)You spend your nights, choregraphing, mixing music, or compiling crazy
lists like this....all because you have a thing for procrastination
and an inexplainable passion for whatever your doing.
