Fellow of the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP)

 

The JFDP is an academic exchange program administered by American Councils for International Education (ACTR/ACCELS), and is fully funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US Department of State.  For the first time it includes fellows from the Balkan region.  Presently associated with the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning in the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management as a Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) visiting scholar.  As a part of the program, have taken a part in courses at GWU, further improving teaching and researching skills in the area of Strategic Management for NonProfit Organizations, Ethics and Business, Change Management, Management of Strategic Issues, Women Entrepreneurial Leadership, Strategic Management, International Education, The New Global Competitive Framework, PhD Seminar and Risk Management.  As a part of the research team, participated in a group effort for establishing “Strategic Improvement of the Performance” guidelines for a University in East and Southeastern Europe.  Part of the team in organizing the public debate about economic development of Serbia and Montenegro, which took place at GWU. Finally, researched and made the comparative analysis between the Serbian and US nonprofit sectors. While enrolled, researched for PhD thesis in the field of Strategic Management.

Since December 1998 worked as an apprentice teacher in Accounting, then as a teacher assistant in Business Communications, Culture and Ethics, and Strategic Management.  In 2000 started teaching Basics of Management.  Became a member of a training program team for education of BK Group's (Serbia) employees, in the field of business communication and team work (1999-2001), and then a member of a training program team organized by The Yugoslav Economic Chamber (2001).  In 2003 started to teach International Strategic Management course at the Novi Sad State University, Department of Industrial Management. Presently working as an assistant teacher in Basis of Management and Strategic Management.

ACTIVITIES

As the coordinator of Public Debate during the last four years, organized more than forty visits of successful and prominent businessmen, professors and expert teams who manage the leading companies in Serbia.  This enabled students to be well-informed about current and interesting topics they hear about in their classes and in this way broaden their horizons.  At the same time it made them realize the reason for the close connections between the theory and practice in management.  Also organized the round table discussion ”Managing Changes“ with eminent experts. As a member of the marketing team of the Faculty, organized the promotion of activities and researched the market possibilities for the Faculty. Took part in the standardization of all the work by the introduction of The Quality System ISO 9000:2001 at the School.  Was one of the initiators for setting up the local AIESEC committee.
