Dr. Umarov serves as one of the chief organizers of the Sunshine Uzbekistan Coalition (www.sunshineuzbekistan.org). Established in April 2004, the coalition is a union of entrepreneurs and citizens, who advocate immediate reform of the Uzbek economy to avoid chaos and violence in the country. Dr. Umarov received his Ph.D. from the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute.  He has taught electrical engineering and physics in Uzbekistan and Algeria.  Upon his return from Algeria, he founded the Soviet Union's first mobile telephone company – JV Uzdunrobita. The success of his first business project motivated Dr. Umarov to be involved in a series of successful business projects in all the major sectors of Uzbekistan's economy, including agriculture, oil & gas and international trade.
