Tenant User's Liability
Insurance Policy (TULIP)
Designed for Community and Commercial Users of University Facilities
What is a TULIP?
TULIP is the abbreviation for Tenant-User Liability Insurance Policy. TULIP is a facility which provides the required Liability insurance for users of University owned facilities that do not otherwise carry that insurance. TULIP coverage is activity/event specific and covers a range of users from individuals to unincorporated associations.
Who Needs TULIP?
All users of University facilities are required to carry liability insurance
with limits of not less than $1 million per occurrence and with GW designated
as an additional insured thereto. The user must provide verification
of the required insurance prior to the activity/event. If the user does
not otherwise carry the required insurance it may be purchased through
the University's TULIP program.
What Will TULIP Cost?
The premium for TULIP is determined by 1) the risk level, 2) the duration of the event, and 3) the number of people in attendance. Premiums for TULIP are generally lower than a separate policy because the user is piggy backing upon an existing insurance policy. For premium quotations, please visit www.urmia.org then click on the Products & Services and select TULIP.
What Events Must Have Coverage?
Any activity or event sponsored by a third party at a GW facility must be covered by Liability insurance procured by the third party.
How Does the Program Work?
The prospective user may access the TULIP web site http://urmia.bene-marc.com with a unique pass code which may be obtained from the Office of Risk Management or the GW Event Planner. After entering the pass code and providing the necessary event information in the application the transaction is concluded with the premium payment using a major credit card. Upon completion of the transaction, copies of the application and certificate of coverage are e-mailed to the user and the Office of Risk Management.
Exclusions:
