The REU Program organizes an outreach program to assist local community college students in learning about and participating in emerging areas of molecular and computational biology.

We have always been admitting students from local community colleges into the program. In summer 2008, we had students from the Nothern Virginia Community College and the Prince George's Community College. They participated in the orientation workshop, as well as the following nine weeks of research with their mentors. The students had their skills in molecular biology and computational techniques enhanced.

In the coming years, we are looking forward to continue admitting students from various community colleges to promote molecular research in the fields of Biology, Chemisty, Computational Science and other areas
