Sakya Pandita: The Life and Legacy of Tibet's Greatest Sage, January 13
Continuing in the tradition of last year's Buddhism Colloquia, the Religion Department is pleased to be hosting an evening lecture given by His Eminence Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, an acclaimed Tibetan Buddhist Scholar and Master. Please join us Tuesday, January 13, from 5:30-7:00, in Philips Hall Room 411. Refreshments will be served and there will be time for questions for His Eminence.

2008 Abbie Ziffren Memorial lecture, November 19
On Wednesday, November 19, at 4:30 pm, Professor Audrius Beinorius gave our 2008 Abbie Ziffren Memorial lecture. Professor Beinorius, a visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Department of Religious Studies at Brown University, gave a lecture entitled "Astral Semantics: On the Relation between Astrology and Medicine in Indian Religious Culture"

2008 Berz lecture, April 17, 5pm.
The annual David and Sherry Berz Lecture was given on Thursday, April 17, at 5pm, in the GW Visitor's Center. Professor Kwok Pui Lan spoke on the topic of "America, Empire, and Prophetic Christianity." The event was promoted jointly with GWU's Alumni Programs and a reception for students, faculty, alumni, and guests was held afterwards.

2007 Ziffren Lecture: "Beyond Reason: The Psychology of Religious and Political Conversion"
The annual Abbie Ziffren lecture took place on Wednesday, October 24, at 4:30, in the GW Visitors' Center, 801 22nd Street NW. The talk was given by Renee Garfinkel, a visiting scholar on the faculty of George Washington University's Institute of Crisis, Disaster, and Risk Management. Dr. Garfinkel's lecture was entitled, “Beyond Reason: The Psychology of Religious and Political Conversion.”

2007 Berz Lecture
Carl Ernst spoke at the Religion Department's annual Berz Lecture this Spring, 2007. The title of the lecture was "Sufism and Globalization," and was given on Thursday, April 12, 2007.
