What services does the Office of the Registrar offer?

Our office can produce all of the following documents:

  • Enrollment letters/certifications for past and current semesters
  • GPA letters
  • Grade mailers
  • Graduation and anticipated graduation letters
  • Invitation letters for the graduation ceremony and/or for international students
  • Letters of good standing
  • Transcripts

We can also process the following forms:

  • Bar (for law students)
  • Educational verifications
  • Health insurance
  • Loan deferments

Other services include:

  • Classroom reservations for student organizations
  • Classroom scheduling
  • Conferral of degrees
  • Consortium registration
  • Grade changes
  • Maintenance of address information
  • Official registration for classes during a given term

Where are you located and what are your office hours?

Office of the Registrar business is conducted in Colonial Central, located on the Ground Floor of the Marvin Center at 800 21st Street, NW. Walk-in services at Colonial Central include: transcript orders, Registration Transaction Form-EZ (RTF-EZ) processing, certification requests, and name/SSN changes. Colonial Central hours are as follows:

What is my student ID (GWid) number and how do I get it?

Your student ID number is the GWid. You can obtain your GWid by using the GWid Retrieval feature.

How do I get a PIN so I can login to GWeb?

If you don't know your PIN, you can go to the myGW portal and click on the GWeb info system link. Then click on "Don't Know Your PIN?" for assistance.


If my GWeb PIN has been inactivated, what do I do?

Follow the instructions above for How do I get a PIN so I can login to GWeb?


My name is spelled wrong. How can I fix that?

You may come to the Office of the Registrar @ Colonial Central and fill out a Name/Student ID Change form. You must bring a government issued ID and/or birth certificate with you. It will take approximately 3-5 business days to update your name.

As an alternative, you may mail the Name/Student ID Change form with notarized copies of the supporting documentation to our office.

I just got married/divorced. How do I change my name in the system?

We can only change your name if you are a current student. You may come to the Office of the Registrar @ Colonial Central with your marriage license or divorce decree and fill out a Name/Student ID Change form. It will take approximately 3-5 business days for processing.

As an alternative, you may mail the Name/Student ID Change form with notarized copies of the supporting documentation to our office.


My address is incorrect. How can I fix that?

The fastest way to correct your address is to:

  1. Go to the myGW portal
  2. Click on the "GWeb info system" link
  3. Login to GWeb
  4. Click on the "Personal Information Menu"
  5. Follow the link to "Update Your Address"

As an alternative, you may complete an Address Change form and bring it to the Office of the Registrar @ Colonial Central. It will take approximately 3-5 business days to complete your request.


How can I get a copy of my transcript?

How can I obtain a letter of certification to prove I am an enrolled student?

Please visit our Certifications web page for complete information on requesting a letter of certification.


Where can I get an application for graduation?

You can fill out the Application for Graduation form. Please submit the completed form to your Dean's Office by the posted deadlines.


I would like to schedule a room for an event being held by my group. How can I do that?

Please visit our Academic Scheduling web pages for policies and procedures on room reservations.


I do not want directory information about me released. What do I do?

You must file written notice to this effect. You may use the Confidentiality Request Form for this purpose. Please visit our Policies page for information on FERPA and the Release of Student Information.
