receSs

After adopting the name recess in January 1993, the group performed every Friday night at midnight in the lisner downstage.  Such a rigorous schedule caused most recess members to become pale and introverted...but very comical. The group adopted this fine logo:

During these prosperous years in recess history, the group attended the National College Comedy Festival held a Skidmore College.  They also appeared at the Big Stinkin' International Improv Festival in Austin, Texas.  They began the annual AIDS Week Improv-a-thon to raise money for the Whitman-Walker AIDS clinic.  In 199  Recess won the "Kids in the Hall" College Improv Competition.

It was these formative years that helped to create the foundation upon which a comedy empire was to be built.
