The 1997-98 season marked the begining of Recess's exile from the Lisner Downstage.   Knowing in their hearts, that the movement must continue, the great minds of the recess collective held a fateful meeting with the marvin center staff.  Both our lawyer and the university's lawyers have advised both parties to not comment on that meeting.  However we can tell you that recess was allowed to perform in the Dorothy Betts Marvin Theatre.

This marked a change in the group.  No longer would they be able to preform every friday night at midnight.  Since the theatre was not available on a regular basis and the larger venue required more elaborate shows with higher production costs, recess performed about once a month.

It was also during the 97-98 year that recess adopted this logo:

The following two years were spent in careful negotiation with the Department of Theatre and Dance in order to return GW sketch/improv comedy to the lisner downstage.  The group performed a few shows in the space on a trial basis and was finally granted use of the lisner downstage in the late fall of 1999.

Hell we're prolly not going to own up to half the stuff we say anyways, so don't take it, meaning us, seriously.
