Secondary Licensure Subjects

This flexible, self-paced program provides licensure eligibility for those who are interested in teaching secondary:

  • English
  • English as Second Language
  • Foreign language
  • Math
  • Science (biology, chemistry, and/or physics)
  • Social Studies

Initial Teaching Licensure

The QUEST Program is designed to offer the initial teacher licensure course work up front and students can finish their masters’ degrees at their own pace. While all students must apply for the M.Ed., those who already have advanced degrees may choose not to finish the M.Ed. courses.

M.Ed. in Secondary Education

The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Secondary Education consists of a comprehensive and innovative series of experiences designed to develop the skills and concepts essential for effective teaching. The program stresses an integrated university-public school approach to the preparation of future teachers, underscoring GW's commitment to teaching in a collaborative social context. Graduate students become part of a diverse community of scholars and teachers dedicated to the improvement of teaching and learning in public schools.
