Five Year Programs

The Political Science Department offers four five year BA/MA programs: Political Science, Legislative Affairs, Public Policy, and Public Administration. Admission to these programs is highly competitive.

Application to one of these programs is accepted after a student completes at least 60 credit hours at GW. Transfer credits are not included in the sixty hours.

Acceptance to one of these programs as an undergrad is an internal admission which permits a student to enroll in three graduate classes which count towards the BA in Political Science. In the final semester of work towards the BA the student must take the GRE and make formal application to the MA program. Once admitted to the MA program, the three graduate classes taken as an undergraduate will "double count" for the graduate degree.
