The George Washington University’s Prime Movers Media program sends veteran journalists and university interns to mentor high school students in elective media classes in Washington D.C. and after-school media clubs in Philadelphia. While the professionals spend periods ranging from two weeks to a month or more exclusively sharing their knowledge and experience, interns from GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs and Temple University’s Department of Journalism in Philadelphia work a full semester. They all help students and teachers create or revitalize school-based media programs in television, radio, print and digital /online production. PMM provides training and fosters connections among news media companies, universities and high schools to help promote diversity in the next generation of journalists.

Greetings from Philadelphia Coordinator:

"What Philadelphia Prime Movers Media is doing is becoming known and people are watching. With news papers and media companies retrenching on internships and training as they adjust to the changing technology and economic meltdown, Prime Movers Media may be a prime outreach to those who are seeking careers in media."
