Step 2: Registration

Selecting Courses

Only students who have been admitted and assigned a GW ID number may register for courses. Most courses are open to non-degree students except those in the Medical School and the Law School . Note that graduate courses are numbered 200 or above, while undergraduate courses are numbered between 1-199. Some of these courses may have prerequisites or require special permission to register; others may be closed because the course is full. All students are expected to meet the course prerequisites.

For a list of courses offered during the semester you will want to enroll, view the Schedule of Classes.

For course descriptions consult the University Bulletin.

For information on registration dates and how to register online, consult the Office of the Registrar. For information on tuition and fees, consult the Student Accounts Office.

If you have problems with the online registration, do not have internet access, or need required signatures and departmental approval for courses, you must register the old-fashioned way -on paper -by completing the Registration Transaction Form (RTF). The form can be obtained at many academic offices including the Registrar's and OUS and can be downloaded here. Make sure you write clearly and obtain all relevant signatures. Sloppy penmanship or blank fields may delay your registration. The completed form should be mailed, delivered, or faxed to the relevant administrative office:
