WHAT is OSI??

The group started of under the title of “Linux Club”, an informal meeting place for students and faculty of varied interests and diverse backgrounds. Through a series of brown bag lunch lectures and workshops , the group transformed into an official student group in Fall 2006.

The mission of the GWU Open Source Initiatives is to create awareness of Open source within our student community, promote and create open source projects and foster ties with the industry and academics. 

Open source wares are competing with the proprietary options in industry and universities paving the way for new, cost effective and secure technologies.

Techie or Newbie, everyone is welcome to contribute to this group over matters like open source distros, intellectual property rights and open source applications.
