About the Speaker:
Dr. Stacy Blake-Beard is an Associate Professor of Management at the Simmons College School of Management and Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Gender in Organizations at Simmons.
Prior to joining Simmons she was faculty at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education. Her research focuses on the challenges and opportunities of mentoring relationships, with a
focus on how these relationships may be changing as a result of increasing workforce diversity. Her work has been published in the Journal of Career Development, the Academy of
Management Executive, the Psychology of Women Quarterly, Journal of Management Development, the Journal of Business Ethics, and The Diversity Factor.
About the Seminar :
Mentoring relationships are crucial to the career development and advancement of women. Although there is increased attention on mentoring in women’s careers, questions about how
to leverage the power of mentoring remain. In this session, Dr. Stacy Blake-Beard will facilitate an interactive discussion about women’s mentoring experiences. Participants in this session will:
gain greater understanding of the process of mentoring, identify ways to find and enlist mentors, highlight their role in building effective mentoring relationships, discuss the benefits and challenges
of cross-gender mentoring, and share best practices.
