NSF Grant Awarded to Dr. Offermann

NSF Grant Awarded to Dr. Lynn R. Offermann
Professor, Organizational Sciences and I/O Psychology
Director, I/O Psychology Doctoral Program

Dr. Offermann recently received funding from NSF for a multi-year study of the effects of demographic diversity in the workplace. Using data from over 40,000 employees, she will be comparing the effects of different supervisor/subordinate racial, ethnic, or gender combinations on individual and organizational outcomes using data on job satisfaction and perceived fairness, retention and turnover data, organizational performance, and management evaluations. She will develop and test new methods for measuring and comparing diversity within and across organizational units and will conduct qualitative examinations of more and less successful diverse workplaces to understand the factors involved in creating successfully inclusive workplaces. Results will contribute significantly to knowledge of intergroup relations and advance knowledge of the effects of diversity in multiracial, multiethnic work settings.
