Dr. Costanza Interviewed by WJLA-TV

Dr. Costanza

Dr. David Costanza was recently interviewed by WJLA-TV (the local ABC affiliate in Washington DC) on a story about Jobster.com. He was identified as a "George Washington University Professor who is an expert on psychology and the work place...." The story was about new web sites that allow employees to comment on their bosses and employers. The idea is that prospective employees can go on-line and get ratings and comments about their prospective employers from current employees. Dr. Costanza commented on how applicants and employers might use the information and the value that it would have in making a decision. Specifically, he noted that, as an applicant, he would be hesitant to make a decision about whether or not to accept a job based on a few comments posted by employees and that, as an employer, it might lead to increased monitoring of Internet usage and blocking of sites. He also commented on the reliability and validity of such rating sites and the risks associated with making an employment decision on such limited information.
