DEPARTMENT OF ORGANIZATIONAL SCIENCES & COMMUNICATION

Self, Connective and Cause-based Leadership

Harsh Verma , Ph.D.

September 30, 2004

About the Speaker:

Harsh Verma argues that recent critiques of the gender bias in heroic models of leadership reflect Western, and in particular North American, cultural experiences. Drawing on Hindu mythology, he describes three feminine heroic figures, the unique leadership style exemplified by each, and the lessons about effective leadership that can be drawn from their stories .

About the Seminar:

Mr. Harsh Verma is on the faculty of Management at the Indian Institute of Business Management. He has an MSW and a diploma in Human Resource Development. Prior to joining the faculty of management, he worked in the corporate sector. Harsh's current passion is the application of lessons from Hindu lore in leadership. He is also interested in social movements, the influence of technology on leadership, organizational development, and Jungian psychology.
