Welcome! The Office of Academic Planning and Assessment (OAPA) was established in September 1998, with Cheryl Beil appointed as its first Director. The Office is part of Academic Affairs and is administratively responsible to the Associate Vice President of Academic Planning and Development. OAPA serves the University by educating the academic community about assessments, assisting faculty in the development of effective measures to assess programs and courses, and by designing surveys and summarizing survey results for regular internal and external reporting. The information is utilized by the Schools for planning and policy development. In July 2006, administrative oversight for Academic Integrity and University Sudents (non-degree) was transferred to the Executive Director.

Mission Statement: The Office of Academic Planning and Assessment is responsible for increasing the University's understanding of undergraduate and graduate student retention, graduation, and attrition; for helping improve undergraduate retention and graduation rate; for assessing the quality of undergraduate and graduate education; for measuring student satisfaction with The George Washington University; and for helping to improve teaching and student learning.
