Frequently Asked Questions

Attire

Attire for the program is business casual.

Men: Dress slacks or khakis, collared shirt (button-down or polo), loafers or casual shoes
Women: Slacks or khakis, skirt, sweater set, blouse, polo shirt, casual shoes

Please note: We do not require uniforms, suits, ties or jackets to be worn during the program.



Communication

All communication you receive from the GW NSSP staff will be sent via email. Please add nssp@gwu.edu to your email address book so that your computer recognizes this email address and does not direct it to your SPAM folder.



Computers

A computer is not necessary while you are in session. Laptops and printers will be made available for your use.



Course Funding

Your unit is responsible for funding the following expenses:

  • Course Tuition
    • $8,075 per person when three or more participants from the same unit or agency attend a course.
    • $8,500 per person when one or two participants from the same unit or agency attend a course.
  • Lodging (if applicable)
  • Travel expenses
  • Incidentals (including laundry expense, phone calls, internet fees, parking, etc.)
  • Any meals not included as part of the program tuition


Meals

Beverages and light snacks will be provided throughout the day.
There will be approximately 5 lunches and 5 dinners with a guest speaker scheduled.
All other meals will be covered under unit or individual expense.



Reading Materials

Within two business days of receipt of your application and payment you will receive a confirmation email that will provide you with information on accessing the participant's only section of the website. This section of the website will contain the reading materials, schedule, speaker bios, and syllabus.

Application Process

The class is limited to 50 participants, and registrations are accepted on a first paid, first enrolled basis.

Apply online and submit with credit card number or email a government training form to dedavis@gwu.edu.

Please download and fill out the application form online, print, and sign it. Then fax with credit card number or government training form to (202) 403-3971.

By Email
Please download and fill out the application form online, print and sign it. Then email a scanned copy of the form along with credit card information or government training form to dedavis@gwu.edu.

You will receive confirmation via email within two business days.

Cancellations must be made in writing to Karen Notch at karen_notch@gwu.edu. Substitutions are welcome in lieu of cancellations.

Schedule

The program will begin each day at 0900 and end at approximately 1715 except on days when a dinner with guest lecture is scheduled. On evenings when a dinner with a speaker is scheduled, the program will end at approximately 2030.



Travel

The Elliott School of International Affairs is located at 1957 E St, NW in Washington, DC.

Parking at the facility is $26.00 per day.

There are three metro stations within a 15 minute walk of the facility:

Foggy Bottom (Orange and Blue Lines)
Farragut West (Orange and Blue Lines)
Farragut North (Red Line)

The Ronald Regan Washington National Airport (Airport code DCA) is the closet airport to The George Washington University.

When booking your flights, please do not schedule your return flight until at least two hours after the program end time (approximately 1715).
