About the Nonprofit Management Initiative
The Nonprofit Initiative is a collaborative effort of faculty based
in various departments, programs, and schools across the GW campus whose
teaching and research interests are focused on nonprofit governance,
nonprofit management, philanthropy, or public policy affecting the nonprofit
sector. The Initiative's purposes include the following:
- To encourage enrollment in degree and certificate programs related
to the management of nonprofit organizations.
- To encourage and facilitate teaching about the nonprofit sector and
philanthropy across the University.
- To provide a vehicle for encouraging and supporting collaborative
research related to nonprofit governance, nonprofit management, and
philanthropy across the campus.
- To provide increased support for students and faculty engaged in
study and research related to nonprofit organizations.
- To provide service to boards and staffs of nonprofit organizations.
- To encourage the involvement of GW staff and students in voluntary
service and in internships related to nonprofit organizations.
- To provide a resource to students planning nonprofit careers.
The Nonprofit Initiative is guided by a faculty Steering Committee and
its advancement is supported by an Advisory Board including distinguished
business, government, and nonprofit leaders.
