The Honorable Madeleine K. Albright, former U.S. Secretary of State, will discuss "Preventing Genocide: A Blueprint for U.S. Policymakers" at an event moderated by Amb. Karl F. Inderfurth, John O. Rankin Professor of the Practice of International Affairs and director of the graduate program in international affairs at The George Washington University's Elliott School of International Affairs. The event is sponsored by the Banville Forum.

BACKGROUND:
Former Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright co-chaired The Genocide Prevention Task Force with former Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen. The task force was jointly convened by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, The American Academy of Diplomacy and the United States Institute of Peace. Its report, "Preventing Genocide: A Blueprint for U.S. Policymakers," which was released on Dec. 8, 2008, offers practical recommendations on how to prevent genocide and mass atrocities.
