GW INVITES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO COMPETE IN "COLONIAL MATH CHALLENGE" FOR PRIZES AND $80,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

EVENT: 

GW's "Colonial Math Challenge" is a mathematics competition open to high school students in the mid-Atlantic region. Winners of the various competitions will receive prizes and be eligible for scholarships totaling $80,000 over a four-year period to be applied towards undergraduate education at The George Washington University. 

WHEN:  

Friday, Nov. 7, 2008; 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
8 - 9:30 a.m.: Opening ceremony and Colonial I Test; 1957 E St., Room 213
10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.: Colonial Bowls and Colonial II Test; Marvin Center, Grand Ballroom

COST:

BACKGROUND:  

Colonial Math Challenge 2008 is open to high school students from the District of Columbia, and students enrolled in high schools in the neighboring states of the mid-Atlantic region: Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina, southern New Jersey, and West Virginia. In addition to the mathematics competitions, the day will include a variety of mathematical activities.

The challenge is supported by GW's Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Mathematics, School of Engineering and Applied Science, Office of Academic Affairs, and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
