GW'S COLLEGE OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES ANNOUNCES NEW DEGREE IN MOLECULAR BIOTECHNOLOGY

New Integrated Degree will Prepare Graduates for
Careers in Bioscience and Business

WASHINGTON - The George Washington University's College of Professional Studies has announced a new Master of Professional Studies (M.P.S.) in molecular biotechnology. Unlike traditional graduate degrees in science fields, the M.P.S. program features a science curriculum that exposes the students to technology entrepreneurship and management of innovation.

"The current job market desperately needs people with both science and business knowledge and skills." said Ali Eskandarian, associate dean of GW's College of Professional Studies. "M.P.S. candidates in molecular biotechnology will benefit from a diverse curriculum that will serve them throughout their careers."

The GW professional master's degree in molecular biotechnology is uniquely designed to provide graduates with knowledge and skills for designing biotechnology devices, analyzing the data they produce, and participating in their commercialization.  Corporate and government internships will expose students to real-world problems.  Sponsored by a grant from the Council of Graduate Schools and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, graduates will be well positioned to take advantage of emerging opportunities in high-tech and pharmaceutical fields.

GW's College of Professional Studies offers both full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate programs that continue the educational experience for those in emerging and rapidly changing professions.  Programs draw on the expertise of GW faculty and outside partners - professional associations, community organizations, consulting enterprises, and industry leaders - to present innovative, forward-looking curricula with immediate relevance in today's workplaces.

Located four blocks from the White House, The George Washington University was created by an Act of Congress in 1821. Today, GW is the largest institution of higher education in the nation's capital. The University offers comprehensive programs of undergraduate and graduate liberal arts study as well as degree programs in medicine, law, engineering, education, business, and international affairs. Each year, GW enrolls a diverse population of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and more than 120 countries.
