Tree Dedicated to Celebrate 100 Years of the GW Name

Amid the first day of classes, a tree-planting ceremony commemorated the 100th anniversary of The George Washington University name, which was changed from Columbian University on Sept. 1, 1904. The University planted a six-foot clone of a circa 1785 white ash tree from George Washington's estate at Mount Vernon. READ
