Remembering Sept. 11

The University will observe a moment of silence Saturday at 8:46 a.m. to remember the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and its victims, including nine alumni. A candlelight vigil is scheduled for the University Yard at 8 p.m. READ

GW's newest residence hall features 10 floors of residential apartments, a first floor public food court and two underground parking levels. More than 700 students live in the facility. READ

Legal Music Program Begins

A new pilot program offers residence hall students a complimentary subscription to Napster, while iTunes also has been licensed for distribution to students. This GW initiative provides a legal, safe way to share music. READ

Tree Dedicated to Celebrate 100 Years of the GW Name

Amid the first day of classes, a tree-planting ceremony commemorated the 100th anniversary of The George Washington University name, which was changed from Columbian University on Sept. 1, 1904. The University planted a six-foot clone of a circa 1785 white ash tree from George Washington's estate at Mount Vernon. READ

Scott Named Dean

Dr. James Scott, a faculty member since 1986, has been named the dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. READ
