Previous Experiments at SAL and Lund

Low-energy studies of few-nucleon systems have been of interest as testing grounds for modern theoretical calculations, in searches for 3-body force effects, and as tests of charge symmetry. For the latter, the issue of charge-symmetry violation in 4He has lingered for many years [Ber72, Cal83]. Similar questions were raised for the A = 3 system [Fau81] without being resolved. Below we describe experiments with 3H and 3He designed to address these issues, both in terms of the comparison of charge-symmetric mirror channels and the relation of the measured cross sections to theory.
