Professor Wellman began teaching at The George Washington University in 1980. For more than two decades, he was a member of the United States Navy Band Sea Charters, both as a vocalist and as a conductor. He has performed in numerous operas and musicals such as Carmen, Gianni Schicci, La Boheme, Carousel, and The Marriage of Figaro, and with the National Lyric Opera Company, Civic Opera, Alexandria Symphony, Prince William Symphony, Georgetown Symphony and Winston-Salem Opera Company. Prof. Wellman resides in Stafford, Virginia with his wife, Suzanne, a nurse and dancer, and their three children.
