Professor Barbara Seidman joined the faculty of The George Washington University as instructor of harp in 1976. Past performance positions include ones with the Calgary (Canada) Philharmonic Orchestra, the North Carolina Artist-In-Residence Program and the orchestra for the National Ballet of Washington, DC. She is currently freelancing in the Washington area, where she performs with a variety of operas, ballets, musicals and local and visiting orchestras, as well as in a wide range of chamber music programs. She has performed for many years in the orchestra of the National Theatre, the American Camerata for New Music and in the Flute and Harp Duo in the concerts in Schools Program under the auspices of The Friday Morning Music Club and the Washington Performing Arts Society. Professor Seidman has also substituted with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the Baltimore and National Symphony Orchestras. She has recorded for both radio and television. In addition to teaching at The George Washington University, she is on the faculties of Howard University and the Levine School of Music.
