Bass-baritone David Langan is familiar to Washington DC area opera fans from his frequent appearances with Baltimore Opera (Warden Benton in Dead Man Walking, Sonora in La Fanciulla del West, and Monterone in Rigoletto), in seven productions with the Washington National Opera, and five productions with Summer Opera Theater Company. He has also enjoyed success and glittering reviews in roles such as Sarastro, Mephistopheles, Colline, Don Alfonso, Raimondo, and Basilio with major opera companies in Europe and across North America . These include, among others, Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Opera Colorado, and Florentine and Skylight Opera companies in Milwaukee . Among his frequent European engagements are performances as Count Walter in Luisa Miller and Dikoy in Katya Kabanova. Mr. Langan holds a Masters of Music degree from Indiana University and currently serves on the faculty of The George Washington University and Shenandoah Conservatory.
