Professor Eileen Morris Guenther, widely known as an organ recitalist throughout the United States and in Europe, has served as Minister of Music and Liturgy at Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington since 1976. Critically acclaimed for her "exuberant playing," she has performed throughout the US as well as in England, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Sweden and Brazil. Prof. Guenther's recordings for Vista Records in London, Arabesque Records, Foundry Records and for the US Air Force Orchestra, include the first solo recording of the Filene Organ of the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, the premiere recording on the Foundry Church's 60-rank Casavant organ (of which she was the primary designer), and performances on the organ at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. In addition to her duties at The George Washington University, Prof. Guenther serves as Lecturer in Church Music at Wesley Theological Seminary. For many years, Prof. Guenther produced and hosted "The Royal Instrument," a popular and award-winning program of organ music heard on WGMS AM/FM, Washington's commercial classical music radio station. She has served the American Guild of Organists in a number of capacities, such as Vice President, National Councilor for Organizational Concerns, Dean of the Washington, DC Chapter and as General Chairman of the 1982 AGO National Convention; she also appeared as solo recitalist at the National Convention in San Francisco. Prof. Guenther and her husband, Prof. Roy Guenther, are parents of a daughter, Christina.
