At the end of the 2003-04 academic year Professor Edgar completed 22 years at GW. During that time, the Percussion Department has grown from 5 students to well over 60 with 4 Percussion instructors. There are now 2 percussion ensembles, which Professor Edgar conducts, as well as a class percussion course which he teaches. Professor Edgar also serves as the coordinator of Percussion Studies at GW. Professor Edgarís musical activities outside of GW have taken him from the National Symphony and Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra to every theater in Washington. He has played with D.C.ís many contemporary music groups, recorded in the major recording studios, and performed in jazz clubs from ìBlues Alleyî to the small basement clubs throughout D.C. After having lived in D.C. since 1971, Edgar and his wife moved to York, Pennsylvania in 2003. His other passion of Lionel Trains has taken over what is left of his time. He is very active in the Train Collectors Association on the national and divisional levels, and works one day a week repairing trains at the National Toy Train Museum in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.
