University Singers

Conducted by Gisele Becker, University Singers is a mixed choir of approximately 65 GW undergrads and graduated students.  The group has two formal concerts each academic year.  They have toured extensively, with overseas tours occuring every two years.  Past tours have included Argentina, Brazil, Romania, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.  This May the University Singers and members of the a cappella group The Troubadours will travel to South Africa and perform with and for four universities there.  On alternate years, the Singers perform Evensong Prelude at Washington National Cathedral.  There is an annual Cabaret which allows students and alumni to perform jazz and pop standards.  Auditions consists of vocalising, ear training and sightreading.  NO prepared solo is necessary.  Rehearsals are Tues and Thurs from 12:45-2 in Phillips B120.

The GW Chamber Choir is a select, mixed choir of 16-20 singers.  All members must also sing with University Singers.  Repertoire for the Chamber Choir is challenging and members who are accepted must do note-work on their own time.  Chamber Choir rehearses on Mondays from 5-7 in Phillips B120.

The GW Womens Chorus is an all-female auditioned choir of approximately 20 members.  In addition to participating on the choral ensemble concert, the Womens Chorus has performed with the Cantate Chamber Singers, the Sirens and on a lecture at Strathmore Performing Arts Center.  The Chorus rehearses on Wednesdays from 4-6 in Phillips B120.
