• MCMC is a high-quality academic program. GW’s Museum Studies is one of the best regarded graduate programs in the nation providing specialization in Museum Collections Management. The Program was founded in 1976 and it now offers the largest on-campus graduate program in Museum Studies in the country.
• MCMC is one of very few graduate-level training geared to U.S. museum professionals delivered at a distance. We have piloted this distance education program for two years with a group of 30 museum professionals from twenty states and territories, including Hawaii, Alaska and Guam who were from a variety of museums in size and type with support from an NEH grant.
• MCMC not only provides high-quality education, but does so in a very flexible, yet structured format. You never need to visit campus to complete your certificate. All course materials are delivered over the Internet via distance education. We have weekly materials and assignments, but you get to choose when you do the work during the week. You can work in the mornings, lunchtime or in the middle of the night, whatever fits your needs. You can complete your course work at home, work or on the road, wherever you can access the Internet.
• We support our students each step of the way toward their certificate. We provide administrative, advising and technical support staff to answer your questions. We provide support on the phone, through e-mail and in-person (if you choose to visit us).
• We focus our curriculum on graduate-level courses we have taught on-campus for decades by nationally known faculty. Our goal is to provide as much faculty interaction as possible in an on-line environment.
