What to Expect from the Museum Collections

Management and Care Program (MCMC)

Each CD comes with the following :

Video Lectures

Each session is taught through a mixture of lecture footage and PowerPoint presentations. This unique system allows students jump forwards and backwards through the lecture for quick reference or accessing certain topics again for review. The result is a comprehensive understanding of the material, eliminating the worry of missing any crucial information while you are taking notes.

Video Scenarios

In addition to video lectures, some sessions have additional videos. Some are virtual field trips to some of Washington D.C.'s most prominent collections, while others are vignettes dealing some theoretical situations you may encounter in the collections management field.

....Learn about the preventive conservation planning involved in the construction of a new museum wing.

...Take a virtual field trip to some of Washington' s largest collections.

Blackboard

The Distance Education program utilizes a class organizational system called Blackboard, a system used by on-campus GWU students as well, which allows students to check and submit assignments, test their knowledge, question the professor, and even communicate with the rest of their classmates.

In addition to these features, which come standard with every disk, you'll be treated to presentations and additional information from a wide array of museum professionals and other experts in related fields.
Check out a sample of some of the features for each individual course:

Collections Management: Legal and Ethical Issues (CMLE)
