Guest Lecturers in Museum Studies courses


Washington D.C. is often referred to as the “Museum Capital of the World.”  The D.C. area is extraordinarily rich in decision and policy-makers who are at the forefront of emerging issues that will greatly affect our nation’s cultural affairs. The Museum Studies Program benefits greatly from mining these resources by inviting these experts to give lectures and to engage students in discussions. In our Museums and Cultural Property Seminar, for example, nationally known experts participate in class discussions, such as the noted author on the subject of Nazi-era looting, the former chair of the Cultural Property Advisory Committee of the Department of State on cultural protection laws and policies, and a representative of Native American community on new developments in Native American-museum relations.  The following is a partial list of guest lecturers in Museum Studies courses over the last three years:
