Instructions to Get and Use ElFinBk

   ElFinBk {ELectric FINance BooK} is a college-level Business Finance 
textbook that uses the computer's capabilities {graphics, hot-text
and computational power} to improve your understanding of business finance.
It is free to you and freely distributable to anyone wishing to try it.

1.  Click on ElFinBk to download the software {and these instructions}.  SAVE
      it to disk - to your ROOT C:\ drive.  [If you are an MSFin student in
      the Lab, download it to your Z drive.]  DO NOT   open   it or try to run
      it from the web page - it MUST be run from your machine.  It is zipped to minimize
      download time, so you must unzip {or extract} it AFTER downloading.

2.  If you do not have unzipping software installed on your machine, click on
      WinZip {3.1 or 95} on this web page to download it to your ROOT {C or Z} directory.

3.  Back on your machine in C:\ [Z in the MSFin lab], first install Winzip.exe by
    double-clicking on it if you want to use it to unzip elfinbk.zip; and install Winzip.
    Then, with unzipping software installed, double-click on C:\ElFinBk.zip [or Z] and
      select   Extract   or   Unzip   to unzip it and install it: 
         Extract to:   C:\ElFinBk   for regular machines {or Z:\ElFinBk for MSFin};
	     Make sure the windows for   All Files, Overwrite Existing Files, & 
		 Use Folder Names   are all checked before extracting to C:\ElFinBk.
      [DO NOT choose to open elfinbk.zip to run ElFinBk - it MUST first be unzipped 
      and installed in a directory DIRECTLY off the C:\ {Z for MSFin} root directory.]

4.  Get into ElFinBk directory and double-click on     ctwinx.exe     .  Then select
      ElFinBk.ctb   to "open" the book to its introduction; and you're set.  
      [Subsequently, you just double-click on   ElFinBk.ctb   to use it.]


   If you are updating to the most recent version of ElFinBk {the current version date is indicated on my web page}, repeat the above steps.  All files, EXCEPT those unique to your use {your Browse Trail, comments, Sim cases you've run, ...}, may be replaced when you unzip the newer ElFinBk.zip.  In some {unlikely} circumstances you may lose some TOC, VarList, ... info; but I'll tell you & provide files that you can use to re-create the info unique to your use of ElFinBk; if you wish to.


   I hope you find ElFinBk worth your time.
