Issues: Museums and Memorials
Countries remember WWII in the Pacific and those who lost their lives during that war in different ways. Memorials to the dead and museums to remember the past are nothing unique to the Asian-Pacific region. While most of these museums and memorials are uncontroversial, some of these have come under intense public scrutiny. At times, the way nations remember those who died in international conflict and the way nations present that history in museums result in controversy.
In this section, some of the more well-known memorials and museums dedicated to the Pacific War are presented. While most of these museums and memorials have remained uncontroversial, some of these have come under intense public scrutiny.
This is by no means a complete listing of all the museums and memorials dedicated to remember the Pacific War. If there is a museum or memorial that you believe has been overlooked, please contact us. The links provided for these museums and memorials are in English, when possible.
