Issues

There are significant areas of contention concerning unresolved issues pertaining to WWII that remain in active debate to this day.  These issues include predominately those concerning comfort women, POWs, and forced labor.  They tend to be the predominant concerns not simply because of their sensitive and controversial nature but because of the fact that they are dealt with through channels that attract wide publicity, such as court cases.  And yet other issues, including history textbooks and the way memorials and museums present the past, have also become heated topics that have caused much debate and controversy.  Below the major issues that have come under scrutiny are presented along with the various means by which people, governments, and corporations have sought to present history and reconcile with the past.
