“My little sister is going to be Britney Spears for Halloween, and she’s only nine-years-old!” Gina informed me looking upset, afraid that her little sister might be growing up too fast. “Did you see Britney at the MTV Movie Awards?  She was naked!”  My roommate seemed appalled when recalling the scanty outfit Spears stripped down to on national television.

Throughout her works, hooks maintains a firm belief in the accessibility of the theory she seeks to situate within society.  To that end, hooks’ latest work, Feminism is for Everybody, is an accessible book that outlines the basic tenants of a radical feminist theory.  More inclusive than many of her other works, this book attempts to address an audience that is completely unfamiliar with feminist thought. Aimee Mann Lyrics and Gendered Language Patterns

Paul Thomas Anderson claims that many of the characters for his film Magnolia were inspired by Aimee Mann lyrics and from knowing Aimee as a personal friend.  As the film unfolds, the main theme of connectivity between the characters becomes apparent.  If they are not connected in a physical way, they each are in a symbolic way linked as they deal with the necessity of love.  Several times it is spoken in the film how someone has love to give, but does not know how to show it.  The character Claudia, which Anderson said was played “with a true sense of Aimee Mann insanity” (full article)
