Sara Rosenbaum
Harold & Jane Hirsh Professor of Health Care Law & Policy and Director of the Center in the School of Public Health and Health Services

Professor Rosenbaum is known nationally for her work in the areas of health law for the poor, health care financing and managed care, and maternal and child health. During 1993 and 1994, Rosenbaum worked with the White House Domestic Policy Council and the United States Department of Health and Human Services, where she directed the legislative drafting of the Health Security Act for the President. She has served on policy advisory boards for the United States Congress Office of Technology Assessment, the United States Public Health Service, and the Health Care Financing Administration. She also holds positions on technical and expert advisory boards including the Committee on Performance Measures of the National Committee On Quality Assurance (NCQA), and since 1992 has served as the public member of the American Board of Pediatrics. With Professors Rand Rosenblatt (Rutgers University Law School) and Sylvia Law (New York University Law School), Rosenbaum is co-author of Law and The American Health Care System, a law school textbook published in 1997. Rosenbaum has been named one of “America's 500 Most Influential Health Policy Makers.” Prior to joining the Center, Rosenbaum was on the staff of the Children's Defense Fund where she served as director of both the Health Division and the Department of Programs and Policy.
