HOW PREPARED ARE U.S. UNIVERSITIES FOR DOMESTIC TERRORISM?

GW is Host Site for First Campus Law Enforcement Conference on Weapons of Mass Destruction Terrorism December 4-5

 

EVENT:

Campus law enforcement officials representing many of our nation’s colleges and universities and federal law enforcement officials convene at The George Washington University for a two-day conference on campus police preparedness for Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), entitled, “2002 Campus Law Enforcement Conference on WMD Terrorism.”

 

The conference is the first of its kind and invited attendees will be briefed on high priority challenges, available resources and emerging issues related to the security of college campuses across the nation. The conference is co-hosted by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), the Office for Domestic Preparedness and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

John Marburger, director, Office of Science and Technology Policy, Executive Office of the President;

Dolores Stafford, chief, The George Washington University Police Department, president-elect, IACLEA; and other Campus and federal law enforcement officials.

 

Background:

           

The conference is intended to spark a dialogue between federal law enforcement and campus law enforcement to ensure that campuses are protected, informed and well equipped.  After a series of panel discussions and sessions, the conference will conclude with a reaction panel expected to yield recommendations for funding, policies and awareness.
