Background:

“A Night to Give Back” is the largest GW service event of the year, providing GW students with the opportunity to participate in and learn about community service opportunities around the University in a fun environment.  For the third year in a row the event will be hosted in GW’s Marvin Center.

Projects include the PB&Jam Session, an event sponsored by the Greek community where sororities and fraternities will compete to see who can make the most peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for local hunger relief organizations.  Participants in the 2002 “A Night to Give Back” hope to eclipse last year’s record of more than 5,000 sandwiches made in a little more than 30 minutes.  Other events include “Service Made Simple” – an opportunity for students create greeting cards, make picture frames, donate supplies and enter a prize drawing – GW student group performances, bowling for charity and a community campfire.

The organizers of “A Night to Give Back” 2002 are the Marvin Center Governing Board, Residence Hall Association, Student Association, Class Council, Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority, Habitat for Humanity at GW, Panhellenic Council, Human Services Student Organization, Neighbors Project, Student Activities Center and the Office of Community Service.

For a complete schedule of “A Night to Give Back” activities contact the Marvin Center Governing Board at (202) 994-1545 or mcgb@gwu.edu.
