The Society for Organizational
Learning (SoL) was founded in April 1997 as the successor to MIT’s
Organizational Learning Center. SoL
is a not-for-profit, member-governed corporation created to connect
corporations, researchers and consultants to generate knowledge about and
capacity for fundamental innovation and change by engaging in collaborative
action inquiry projects.
The GW Executive Leadership
Program was founded in 1989 to build a community where scholars and
practitioners can come together in the pursuit of learning to gain insights into
the human and organizational phenomenon.
The program is currently celebrating the recruitment of its
15th cohort of scholar-practitioners, and has over 80 doctoral alumni
who continue to serve their communities as well as impact their organizations
and industries through practice, scholarly writing, research and presenting at
conferences around the world.
Chartered in 1989, the GW Center
for the Study of Learning is an international research and development
organization devoted to issues of learning in the field of Human and
Organizational Studies. The
center’s mission is to develop a theoretical base for organizational, group and
individual learning and development by studying the factors that enhance and
prevent organizations and/or individuals from performing and learning.
The
GW Virginia Campus serves an international technology and management community
from its research and technology campus near Dulles International Airport in the
Northern Virginia technology corridor.
Since opening in
August 1991, the campus has grown from modest beginnings with 50 acres, 200
enrollments, and $50,000 in funded research to a strong, vigorous cluster of
academic programs with over 3,000 enrollments, 90 acres and funded research that
tops $28 million in the areas of transportation safety and security, information
technology and telecommunications.
Attendance is limited to 100
SoL and GW members and invitees.
