Background:
As the first Rockefeller to publish an autobiography, David Rockefeller’s is the story of life in 20th century America and the story of how his influential family and he himself influenced world events. In a one-on-one conversation with Elliott School Dean Harry Harding, Rockefeller will discuss his fascinating life.
Rockefeller is the founder and honorary chairman of the Trilateral Commission, non-executive chairman of the Rockefeller Center Properties Trust and RCP Holdings, and honorary chairman of the Americas Society, the Council on Foreign Relations and Rockefeller University. He is also chairman of the Rockefeller University Council and chairman emeritus of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. A graduate of Harvard University and the University of Chicago (Ph.D., 1940), Rockefeller served as an officer of the Chase Manhattan Bank from 1946 to 1981. He was chairman and chief executive officer from 1969 until 1980, and continued as chairman until his retirement in 1981. Since that date he has been involved in numerous other business and cultural educational organizations. His publications include Unused Resources and Economic Waste (1940), Creative Management (1964), and the recently released Memoirs (Random House 2000).
Rockefeller is currently active in numerous business and not-for-profit projects as well as engaged in a broad range of international, governmental, philanthropic, civic, and cultural affairs. Following the event, Rockefeller will sign copies of his new book.
