Haliburton.  The medal recipients are selected by a committee of GW staff, faculty and students.

Gutierrez received a B.A. in human services, with a secondary field of study in business administration, from GW in 2001, and is currently a graduate student in GW’s Graduate School of Education and Human Development.  She has been active in organizations such as AmeriCorps, the Latin American Youth Center of Washington D.C. and the Theta Chapter of Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad/Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc.

Haliburton is a senior at GW majoring in human services and criminal justice and sociology.  Her outstanding service includes volunteering as a health trainer for National Organization of Concerned Black Men, facilitator for college workshops, peer tutor and founder/performer for BLAZEN, an on-campus student organization committed to using arts to develop and engage area youth and college students.
