Background:
According
to GW Professor Amitai Etzioni, “data shows that on many fronts, including trust
in government, commitment to civil rights (versus homeland security) and even
the state of the family, Americans are rapidly acting as if 9/11 never
happened. Even the new commitment
to volunteerism has dissipated, as it was not given new forms of expression.”
These issues and others, including analysis of how the political behavior young
adults has changed and the impact of welfare reform will be points of discussion
at this forum. The event is being sponsored by the GW Institute of Communitarian
Policy Studies.
